Furnace Maintenance

Smock Heat and Air Conditioning has a motto “No Worries.” Smock is the name of the owners, father and two sons. It is an uncommonly trustworthy and experienced family-owned business that strives to and lives up to this motto.

We hired Smock to follow on the terrible errors of a very large, well-known commercial H/AC company (with the initials C, M) that left us in the midst of the worst July heat with a flooded upstairs from a nonfunctioning attic AC unit—which, for many years, has been under a so-called Golden maintenance agreement that supposedly guarantees the best in maintenance and first in response, especially in urgent, highly worrisome, and even dangerous circumstances, such as ours proved to be.

However, we had the great good fortune to decide on Smock to install a complete Trane system in the attic, outside, and in the basement. Mario, James, and their two fellow specialists brought us aid and relief. On an exceptionally hot summer day, they labored nonstop, but always with spectacular care. Their time in our home was spent diligently and meant, obviously, to give us a thorough, first-rate equipment installation. They delivered the highest caliber of skill and knowledge. They went about their work with obvious education, surety, experience, and deliberation. I was especially impressed with their devotion to detail and, too, their very helpful communication about the three, broken, defective units as well as the superior Trane replacements.

When thinking about 4 installers of large equipment such as furnaces and air conditioners you can be apprehensive about your home and its fittings and furnishings. But these specialists were careful with all—from the on-time arrival, the thoroughly protected pad-covered rooms and stairway floors to the comprehensive clean up and then a welcome check list before the last of the four fully equipped, immaculate Smock trucks pulled out of the drive. But before leave-taking, w/o our even thinking of it, these technicians voluntarily put up both replacement filters plus the easy, plug-in smoke detectors Montgomery County now requires. All of the above and yet most amazing, Mario took it upon himself, after completing his furnace install, to take down the four, out-of/reach (for us) overhead basement lights that had been malfunctioning for months with new, better light fixtures and brighter bulbs! My late day discovery of this dangerous problem (dark basement) now fixed made me happy beyond words.

We signed up with our new H/AC company for a pair of very reasonably-priced annual maintenance programs, to go along side the convenient 18-month payment plan for the installed equipment. Smock made for an experience that was smooth and comforting from start (the proposal) with Scott Smock to the physical install and the office paperwork completion. In summary, when the installers went to their own homes after a demanding work day, we remarked then and since that Smock fully delivers on putting first their customers’ expectations and requirements.
